How does it work

You reserve a Woodbridge Dairy Farm half beef with a $500 non-refundable deposit. Once a deposit is placed, a half beef cutting instruction form will pop up to fill out. That form will go into a USDA butcher and processor (Caledonia Packing) in November. The beef will be processed and vacuumed sealed into individual packaging for your freezer convince. Once we have the hang weight from your beef and the processing cost you will be sent a finally invoice (minus the deposit). This process takes approximately 2 to 3 week to complete. Once the invoice is paid, we will schedule a date and time for you to pick up your beef at Woodbridge Dairy Farm.

Pricing the beef

This deposit will sercure your purchase of a half of beef at $8.00 per hang pound in 2026 (This includes the basic processors cost, as of June 2026 the processing cost was $1.80 per hang pound, including the slaughter, processing/packaging and environmental fee. Additional processing fees can accure for extra services like extra grinding, patties, and specialty cutting like stew meat, any extra services will be added to your invoice.) Our grass-fed half beef has a hang weight ranging from 200 to 300 pounds, resulting in a take home product weight of 50-70% depending on the cutting instruction provided.

Freezer space needed

A half beef can be tightly tucked into 8 to 10 cubic feet of space, but 14 to 16 cubic feet will allow for better organization.

Customization and Fulfillment

Our processing date for 2026 is in November. We will pass on your cutting instuctions to Caledonia Packing. We will contact you prior to the harvest date, if we need specification on your cutting instructions. You will pick up your finished beef at Woodbridge Dairy Farm when it’s ready.
