Making Tallow balm for the cold weather season. Tallow Balm or Whipped Tallow Balm both are great for the skin.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3.5 ounces Tallow (about ½ cup melted)

  • 2 Tablespoons Oil (like SweetAlmond or Jojoba)

  • 10 drops of Essential Oil (we like 3 drops clove and 7 drops sweet orange or 10 drops lavendar)

DIRECTIONS

  • Gently melt tallow in a double boiler. I melt mine in a glass jar on a low heat hot plate. It’s low heat melting.

  • Remove from heat. Let cool slightly, then mix in the oil and essential oil(s).

  • Pour into containers for use and let cool completely. This is a balm. It can be used as is or…

  • For whipped balm, let cool until slightly hardened.

  • Mix using a hand or standing mixer until whipped and soft. (see Note.)

Enjoy!

Note: Whipping tallow balm incorporates air and can shorten it’s shelf life. If you are making whipped tallow balm, do so in small batches to use up quickly.
