Simple Lip Balm Recipe

Every year for… mmm…at least 8 years, that I can count back to, my kids and I have been making lip balm for holiday gifts to their teachers and friends.

We also use a version of this balm recipe for hands and body. Winter time is the worst for chapped lips and wind burned cheeks.

This recipe is very easy for any kid 12 and up to make. I would recommend having a little bit of adult help with anyone younger than that, because hot liquid will need to be poured.

Sweet Orange Lip Balm

  • 8 T. Coconut Oil

  • 3 T. Beeswax

  • 1.5 T. Raw Honey

  • 30 drops Sweet Orange essential oil

Place coconut oil, beeswax, and honey into a double boiler (or heatproof bowl in a small saucepan of simmering water). I use a small electric heat plate for this and a 4 cup glass measuring bowl with spout and handle. Makes it easier to pour later. Heat gently until everything is melted.

Well this waiting for mixture to melt, prep your container area. I put parchment paper down on the table. (makes clean up easier) Lay out your tins as close to each other as you can. (helps to eliminate spills)

Once completely melted remove from heat, and add essential oil. Stir until well blended.

Pour mixture into containers. Let sit and cool, balm will set up. Place lids on and clean any drips up on the outside of the containers. Don’t forget to label your now finished lip balm. (Fills about 12 half ounce tins)

ENJOY!

See you soon!
